The Meme.

1. Comment to this post with "I surrender!" and I'll assign you the basis of some TV show idea. (Science fiction show, medical drama, criminal procedure, etc...)
2. Create a cast of characters, including the actors who'd play them.
3. Add in any actor photos, character bios and show synopsis that you want.
4. Post to your own journal.

Before I actually get to my own part of the meme, I must apologise deeply for the music - can you tell it was just what I was listening to at the time? 'Cause it was. Also, for how horrifyingly bad the banner is.

THE PROMPT: A jewel thief seeking some place to lay low until the heat dies down stumbles into a plot to overthrow the government. Who knew a mining colony on an asteroid so small it barely warrants a number could be hiding so many juicy secrets?

TYPE: 24 episode series on BBC1. Do those even exist? Anyway. Each episode an hour in length, except the pilot and finale, which are two hours. I don't think that happens ever either, actually.

RATING: M.

OPENING THEME: “A Drop In The Ocean” Ron Pope.

FINAL CREDITS ENDING THEME: “Over The Rain” flumpool.

SYNOPSIS: Five-hundred years into the future, humanity has expanded into the far reaches of the galaxy. Although they found no other sentient life, humanity itself has been split into Normals and Prophets – with the latter having extrasensory abilities, but are doomed to be used as living supercomputers by the government.

One year prior, an unnumbered asteroid with a mining colony vanished, leaving only a few survivors.

As the series begins, Shay Doyle, a Prophet and a jewel thief, stows away on the transport vessel Artemis. His plan to lay low is hijacked, though, when a group of pirates, led by ruthless pirate captain Jacob Rackham, take over the vessel and take him captive. In exchange for his survival, he's forced to use his abilities to guide them towards the Missing Colony. Meanwhile, the warship Athena, led by Captain Ariel Tupolski, is boarded by government Prophet Agent Rook, who begins a pursuit of the Artemis.

Non-spoilery thoughts on Bloody Monday series 2 episode 2:

I don't even know what the point of that character was except to fulfil some kind of death quota.

So, those of a particularly good memory will remember me reccing Bloody Monday, an eleven episode Japanese drama about spies and terrorists and suchlike, with lots of plot twists and fun stuff like that. I'd strongly suggest checking it out - the subbing is a bit patchy at points, but pretty good, and it's also a very good drama.

Anyway. After over a year, finally the second series has started airing, and the first episode has been subbed and uploaded for streaming.

It can be found here.

You don't need to know the first series to watch the second - they do a recap of all the important plot points at the start of the first episode. But the recap is very spoileriffic, so.

No spoilers, and I'll post up a link and do a proper rec thing, with a link to my rec post for the first series later - probably tomorrow - but there is a sentiment I simply must express:

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA J WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH YOUR HAIR. YOU LOOK RIDICULOUS.

So, admittedly, this journal mostly just regurgitates memes at the moment. At some point, I will actually do a proper post - it may be a heartwrenching post of anguish and tragedy that will be stir you to tears and change your outlook on life.

I mean, it won't. But it could be. I mean it couldn't be, but you know. You could pretend it is. If you had a lot of imagination.

Meme!

Ask Me Anything meme! (from [info]rowanberries

I do not actually remember the wording because it's been a while since this one last went around LJ, but basically, if there is anything you are curious to know about me because you are new around here/are old around here but feel like you should already have known it/have never gotten around to asking despite the fact that you know multitudinous other details of my life like what I eat for breakfast every morning, today is a day to ask it. (It does not have to be RL stuff necessarily! Fannish questions are fun too.)

I will not be offended by anything you ask but I fully retain the right to not answer questions, because sometimes I do like being a mystery, wrapped in an enigma, wrapped in a tortilla. Alternately, I may screen answers if for whatever reason I do not feel comfortable sharing them with the-internet-at-large.

The last few days have been interesting, so to speak. Not so much for me - I seem to be occupying a island of fairly blessed normality - but for people who I know to one degree or another.

If you could have me write a fic specifically for you, what would it be like? Fandom, characters/pairing, genre, plot elements, kinks (if applicable)... what's your ideal fic from me?

Note that I almost certainly won't write it, but I am interested to see what people say.

For anyone interested: Lenny Lyons, new and issueful F2 from Casualty, in Mixed Muses.

Speaking of, I keep wanting to do a big rec post of lots of series (some widely known, some not). The last time I did that was for Bloody Monday. (Series 2 soon! I'm very excited.)

- Pick up to 15 OTPs.
- Describe them in less than 15 words.
- Have your flist guess the OTP! (Try to guess without looking at anyone else's answers! I'll post the right answers in one week or once they've all been guessed right, whichever comes first, with a note saying who got them right.)

A note: Some of these are from RP (about three of them, I think?), and there's a lot of repeating of fandoms.

OTPs. Sort of. Some of them are there as filler, to be honest. )

Look, I'm memesheeping! I'm sure you are shocked.

A. Has my portrayal of a character(s) changed the way you think of him/her?
(This one is a question from me to you!)

B. Pick one of my characters and I'll answer the following questions about him or her.

1. What would your character kill for? What would they die for?
2. What would they refuse to do under any circumstances? Why?
3. What do they dream about?
4. What’s their biggest fear?
5. What single object would they be most hard pressed to part with? Why?
6. What is their fondest memory?
7. What is their worst memory?
8. What or who was were their most significant influence? Expound.
9. What do they believe makes a successful life?
10. What makes them laugh?
11. What are their religious views?
12. What is their greatest strength?
13. Do they have a fatal flaw? If so, what is it?
14. Who is the most important person in their life?
15. If they died, who would miss them most? How would they die?

C. Pick a fandom, any fandom I'm in. I will tell you some stuff that may involve canon ships, fanon ships, fanon trends, and whether or not I think things jumped the shark or went absolutely nuts, or where I myself stopped watching/reading, and why!

Ever had poor self-esteem issues really abruptly rear their heads for no real reason (well, no reason of any particular substance, and no reason that I'd be inclined to tell anyone), and refuse to go away?

I really don't approve of my brain right now.

Okay, weird thing: Someone on my buddy list on AIM sent (apparently automatically) a link to somewhere called ff.implayin. I'm not sure if it's a phishing site or not (the creator has gone to several places saying it isn't, just a harmless, slightly vapid game), but if anybody gets IMs from me linking them to it, then that's not me, that's some automated system.

I changed my password, so if it was a phishing site, they don't have my password anymore.

On a related note, my AIM has gone wacky with random alert sounds. I've no idea if this is because of that site or not. EDIT: This has stopped now, and it was suggested that this may have just been ad banners that make AIM noises.

Any muse, any fandom you know I've ever even touched, any pairing no matter how odd. Claim it in a tag and I write it for you. First come, first served. I say any muse or any fandom, but I'ma going to limit it to these seven, since they're loudest at the moment: Atton Rand, Inui Takumi, Shay Doyle, Shay Fitzgerald, Seamus Finnigan, Teddy Lupin, Dalek.

3. Nervous
4. Angsty
5. Baking

It is notable, however, that there are those amongst my flist who may remember well the last writing meme I put up, wherein I completely forgot to actually write said prompted fics. But I'll try and not be flaky!

Ask a character a question, any question, and they HAVE to answer completely honestly. Have to. It's the meme rule. Even if they'd normally lie, they suddenly have been hit with a truth serum of some kind and must tell the truth. Bwaha.

So, from early tomorrow morning, before - or possibly quite a long time after - the sun rises, I shall be gone. Gone away. Gone away for a week. I shall spend much of that time weeping and saying "This towel reminds me of those good days online!" and then I shall come back (upon the evening of next Saturday) and furiously deny doing anything of the sort.

In the meantime, a quick meme, as stolen from [info]ceitfianna.

Ask me my fannish Top Five [Whatevers]. Any top fives. Doesn't matter what, really! And I will answer them all in a new post I will probably just answer them in comments in this post, I am lazy.
